Just in time for fall and welcoming us right in to the time of Pumpkin everything, Sherwin Williams has introduced it’s color of the year for 2019!
Sherwin Williams color experts are calling Cavern Clay a “warm terracotta color with ancient, elemental roots,” and explains that it’s a “nod to midcentury modern style, but with the soul of the American Southwest, which together create the desert modern aesthetic.”
This “Sun-Washed and Warm” color, which brings the raw elements of nature (like sunsets, canyons, and deserts,) works beautifully with neutrals. This color is featured in this years “Wanderer” color personality. With warm gray or deep brown like Moth Wing and Dark Clove you can create a warm ideal earthy palette.
“We believe 2019 will be a renaissance of the 1970s—with a twist. In the coming year, we will embrace our pioneering spirits and artisan ingenuity. Our 2019 Color of the Year, Cavern Clay, embodies renewal, simplicity and free-spirited, bohemian flair.” ~Sue Wadden, Director of Color Marketing, Sherwin Williams
If you’re stumped on how to incorporate the paint color into your space, think of it as a way to bring the outdoors in. Use it as a backdrop for a kitchen or dining room, but balance the hue with subdued wood grains, leather accents, and even gardening planters with a modern aesthetic.
If you don’t feel the need to commit to this color on the walls but want pops in a more neutral setting, here are some other ways to introduce this beautiful sunset hue.
